“A Woman can be” started out as an “action” aiming to embrace initiatives that inspire people, especially women, to follow their personal dreams, to love nature and sports – regardless of their age or profession – and to work in solidarity, not to address a problem but to accomplish great achievements.
Our initial project “7 Summits: The Hellenic Dream challenge” led to the successful ascent of the first Greek female team on Mount Everest, in May 2019.
The 7 summits are the highest mountains of each of the 7 continents. Summiting all of them is regarded as a mountaineering challenge, first achieved on April 30, 1985 by Richard Bass. The 7 Summits achievement has become noted as an ultimate worldwide exploration and mountaineering accomplishment.
In the context of the “A Woman Can Be” action, the alpinists Vanessa Archontidou and Christina Flampouri were the first Greek female team under the auspices of the Hellenic Federation of Mountaineering and Climbing that successfully scaled Mt Everest in May 2019.
